New Painting

It's probably been almost a year since I've painted something. I have a hard time trying to paint because I haven't had any actual classes on how to do so. I pretty much just wing it and try to do the best I can..

My first Diaper Cake

I've always wanted to make a diaper cake and I finally got my chance! My sister is preggers with a baby boy and we had her first shower today *dances*
I've never really went to a baby shower before but this one was kinda fun. We played neat little games and won cute prizes.
Anyway, I got pumped the night before trying to prepare for this diaper cake. Watching about 10 different youtube tutorials to make sure I get it right. Checking out different pictures and versions of diaper cakes.

This particular diaper cake though, was actually kind of easy. The hardest part was rolling up each individual diaper. But I just went shopping for ribbon and little things to add to it and it all just came together perfectly. I actually stood back and said 'hmm, that's not too bad.' So, now I'm excited to make more! Weeeeee!

I'm Engaged!

I hate neglecting my blog because that also means that I have been neglecting my crafts!!


Recently, I have become engaged to my best friend. We have been together for almost 4 yrs, so naturally when people heard the news they responded with 'It's about time.' lol So, lately I've been looking up a lot of things about weddings n such. And I'm sure alot of things for the wedding will be handmade by me because it's fun and much cheaper. So, I have decided that I'll prob make a seperate blog for all things wedding oriented. I'll keep you guys posted if you'd like to add that too!
I have a lot of projects going underway. I just recently have been given a new schedule that will leave me with LOTS of extra spare time. So, ya best be ready!!

Yard Sale Finds...

So, I know this doesn't really have much to do with crafts but I was excited about a few things I found at a yard sale and I wanted to share them. I have apparently been told that I'm a yard sale freak.. Almost every Saturday morning I browse around looking for bright colored paper attached to road signs. With donut in one hand, drink in the other, and my foot on the steering wheel, haha.
Sometimes I come home empty handed and sometimes I come home with a car full of things. Right now I mainly look for things for my 'future house.' Yard Sales are so great b/c alot of people are just looking to get rid of their stuff. Every now and then you'll find a house that tries to sell their used items for regular price you'd find in the store, but the majority of them just want it off of their property. So, I have learned not to be afraid to bargain with people b/c half the time they'll agree to go a few dollars cheaper.

Anyway~ Here are the things I found this Saturday.

First find :

I got this baby for $22 bucks.This to me was the best find of the day. I've been wanting one of these for a long time but I couldn't find one under a hundred dollars.. Well, until yesterday. The only thing wrong with it was there's a crack in one of the mirrors (which isn't hard to replace at all). The color isn't bad but if anything I can always paint it again and it would look as good as new!

2nd find:

I got this baby for $3 bucks. I've been needing a scanner for downloading pictures of drawings or just pictures in general. So, how lucky was I to find this brand new in the box and for how cheap it was.

Find 3:

I saw an idea in a home living magazine a while back and on a small portion of the wall they had a collage of white mirrors. I've always wanted to do that, it looked so pretty. So.. I already have 3 small white mirrors, this just adds to the collection. I got this baby for a measly dollar.

I also found a really neat gift for a friend of mine. I saw it and it just seems perfect for her. I'll post pics of that AFTER I have given it to her. Anyway~ Let me know what u guys think! Have a fantabulous day!

5 types of hand stitches

I found these tutorials pretty helpful. This whole time I had thought that I wasn't sewing my items right. I thought I HAD to do a blanket stitch for everything, but it turns out that the whole time I was doing something called a Whip Stitch.

I've pretty much taught myself how to sew everything so I was glad to know that what I've been doing this time was actually right, hehe.

Vampire Apple!

EEP!! I'll have to come up with a story for these lil guys.
Something like a vampire bat and a fruit bat had a baby and then bit the fruit, haha...
Maybe not that one, but it was a thought...

By the way, I sold the banana yesterday! Woo-hoo!
