Bernard the Elf

I was asked to do a custom order for an acquaintance of mine last week and she asked me to do an elf plushie for her 2 yr old. His name is Bernard and he leaves her daughter letters everyday counting down to Christmas. This was such a cute idea, I just had to help and try to make the neatest little guy.

This is what I came up with...

My original sketch

Did the mouth, eyebrows, and cheeks with string.
This was after the felt was cut out..

And after..

Taddaaaa...

I can't wait for the little girl to open it on Christmas. I hope she loves it. :)

First Rainbow Cake

On my favorite craft site CO&K , there are several how to's and versions of rainbow cake.
My sisters birthday rolls around and last minute I decide to try this out.

I found a link if you need a how to...rainbows

What I did was, followed directions on the white cake mix box and added a sprite. Afterward, I separated the mix into four or five different bowls and added food coloring to each mix. Then you just pour each one into the cake pan as crazy or neatly as you want it. After its done baking use whipped topping to finish it off and VOILA..you have this...

Oh, and it tastes supaaaah awesome!

Operation Wedding Shoezies

Good news everyone! I've found the perfect pair of shoes to wear for my wedding!
But wait...what's this? Oh, they're only 1,000 smack-a-roos? Pshhhh, chump change.
(Actually what really happened was I about choked on my tea and nearly killed over).  Cheese N Rice that's A LOT for a pair of shoes..but they're soooo friggin' cute.

Aren't they beeeaaautimus?

Okay, so I know some of you are prob thinking 'wow, that's tacky as crap'. But if you knew me then you'd know the sparklier the better. Granted I want my dress to look stylish yet elegant, but my shoes have got to say POW (as well as my butt, but we'll talk about that later).
So, I have officially declared it crafty-loo project time!
I am on a mission to make a similar pair to these sweet little beauties and I need your help.
All my crafty friends, I need your advice. How should I go about doing this? Glue the rhinestones or sew them? Perhaps both?
I have ideas, but the more feedback I get the easier this project may actually be.

So stay tuned while I throw in random posts on my progress and whether or not I decide to give up and set them on fire. Either way it'd make for a fun post.  :)

Thanks Guys! <3

P.S. Here's the etsy link, just in case you want to buy them or see more pics!

Branching out!

My love for horror/spooky related items will always remain in tacked, but I do have to stretch out my creativity a little bit further every now and again. So, here are a few items that I've been tampering with and have already posted in my shop.

(actually already sold this, but I do plan to make more)

(still in progress)

Now, I have been trying to think of a few christmas tutorials to post. I have become so busy in my life that I rarely have time to blog these days (though I miss it alot). But I promise to come up with a few things whether christmas related or not.
Thanks!!

Halloween Goodies for the Kids

One of the many things I look forward to during Halloween is making goodie bags or baskets for kids. This year I put together a little something for my fiance's niece and nephew.

I got the buckets, chap stick, glow sticks, and vampire teeth from Target and the candy from walmart or the dollar tree. And I got the cute skeleton finger crayons from this ladies shop BlakesCrayons

I tried to make them all pretty but I had to keep telling myself...'they're kids...they'll tear it apart in minutes.' And that they did.  : )

My first Festival/Craft Fair

I'm actually surprised that I didn't post this sooner. I was so excited and nervous to do my first craft fair. I came into it not really knowing what I was doing but it was still fun.I mainly wanted to do it to advertise and get my name out there. I passed out tons of business cards that day and made almost $300 smak-a-roos! So, needless to say I was really happy.
I definetly learned alot from this experience and I hope to do more of these very soon.

Here's some pics of my booth and some of the merch I had for sale. :)

Last two pictures are of me and my biggest supporter, my fiance. :)

Cheap Easy Halloween Wreath Tutorial

Items you will need:

Wreath, Black spray paint (glossy or flat), Spanish Moss, fake birdie, Haunted sign of your choosing, and hot glue gun.

(Everything I bought was either at Hobby Lobby or the dollar store and it all cost me less than $15)

First step: You will need to spray paint your wreath black. Put it on old cardboard box and spray away. Leave to dry for a few hours and spray the back. Continue doing this till it looks the way you like.

Second step: After it's nice and dry you can start decorating it. Take your Spanish Moss & separate it a bit so it's not a big clump. You will then hot glue the Moss to the bottom portion of your wreath.

It should look something like this..

Third step: Take your fake Birdie (Dollar Tree) and either Glue him to the moss or this particular one comes with wires on the bottom of his feet, so you can just wrap that wire around a few stick pieces of the wreath. (I did both to ensure it would stay.)

It will look something like this..

Fourth Step: Hobby Lobby has a bunch of cute Haunted type signs that say cute things like Spooky or Beware, but you can find these almost anywhere. What I did with this particular sign I had to cut the back ribbon so I could slip it through the wreath. I then slipped it back through the hole of the sign and used hot glue to hold it. You can also hot glue portions of the sign to the wreath to ensure extra hold.

Now, you may have to play with it a bit to get it exactly the way you want it. Just constantly go back and forth to make sure it's even before you start hot gluing anything.

After you're done with the sign you're finished! You can also add little spiders and glue them around or use thin pieces of fake spider web to add on the sides. It's entirely up to you. I left it like this because I feel the simplicity of it makes it eerie enough. The end result should look similar to this..

(first one I made)

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and that the instructions weren't confusing. Ask me questions if you need any help.

Thanks Again and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Halloween Wreaths!

Halloween will be here before you know it and this is technically my time of year so I need to get moving.
This weekend I bought some materials to make some Halloween wreaths and the first two turned out cute!
I'm going to be selling these at a craft festival in my area but if anyone is interested in them just let me know. And I'll figure out shipping and all that hooplah!

This first one looks a bit plain but I think that's what gives it it's eerie-ness. It was easiest of the bunch I plan to sell this one for about $25. I may also make a tutorial on this one if anyones interested.

This second one was a bit harder but overall it came out really cute. I've had this idea stuck in my head for weeks and finally got it made. I'll sell this one for $30
